Deadpool's romantic life just got an upgrade, as new partner Valentine Vuong gains some disturbing powers that Wade is VERY into.

Contains a preview of Deadpool #10!Deadpool's relationship with the deadly assassin Valentine Vuong just hit a major speed-bump, as they develop new powers that make them deadlier than ever... and even more attractive to Deadpool. A mutant with the power to synthesize any known chemical and inject it via their needle-like fingers, Valentine has been playing Deadpool, hoping he'll take down the elite assassin group known as the Atelier. What Valentine didn't expect as part of their scheme was to fall in love.

In a preview for Alyssa Wong, Luigi Zagaria, Matt Milla, and Joe Sabino's Deadpool #10, Valentine unleashes their new powers as the Horned Emperor of the Atelier. Valentine is now capable of causing black antlers to erupt from the ground, impaling anyone who opposes them. While the assassins of the Atelier attempt to bring down Valentine, Deadpool admits, "I'm very into this" - an unsurprising response given his movie proclivities.

Last issue, Deadpool and Valentine killed the Horned Emperor, only to learn that the title is a mystic bequeathal that passes to whoever kills the previous holder. Valentine wanted the Horned Emperor dead because it was the only way to escape the Atelier, who have been hunting Deadpool in recent months. Little did they know that getting their wish would crown them the group's leader, and seemingly also affect their mind. As the new Horned Emperor, Valentine is a huge threat, and yet one that Deadpool regards with way more lust than fear, to the point where the assassin Drop has to ask, "Can you stop being horny for like three seconds?!"

Bizarrely, this seems to at least partially connect to Wade's erotic interest in unicorns, as seen in 2016's Deadpool, where the assassin is played by Ryan Reynolds. It seems that, for unexplained reasons, Deadpool is weirdly into horns, and his existing infatuation with Valentine is only enhanced by their new form and powers. In nature, horns are often used to attract mates, and it seems that even in this bizarre twist on that scenario, Wade can see the appeal. It likely helps that thanks to his healing factor, getting gored isn't much of a problem, as he's been shot, impaled, and torn in half by pretty much every threat under the sun. More importantly, Deadpool has never been the slightest bit shy about pursuing partners far more powerful than him, and as the new Horned Emperor, Valentine definitely fits the bill.

Unfortunately, it seems that Valentine's new powers chain them even more definitively to the Atelier - an organization they've been attempting to escape from since childhood. While Deadpool may be seriously into Valentine's new antlers, no Wade Wilson relationship has ever ended in anything but tragedy, and it's likely that Valentine's new role will split the two apart - if their powers don't do it far more literally first.

Deadpool #10 is coming from Marvel Comics August 23.
